Dell eliminates rebates to satisfy customers PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 28 November 2006

Computer manufacturer Dell is the latest major corporation to reduce or eliminate the use of mail-in rebates due to pressure from customers.

Dell announced Nov. 21 that the company will stop using mail-in rebate incentives for its "Dimension" line of desktop computer systems. Dell is also removing rebates from the pricing for paid services the company provides.

Other Dell products, such as their televisions and "Inspiron" notebook computers, were stripped of mail-in rebates previously.

A company press release said this is all part of "a plan to reduce use of mail-in rebates, and remove complexity of promotions and discounts." As part of this plan, Dell is reducing the number of discounts and promotions in general, not just the number of mail-in rebates.

For more information about this change, see the Dell press release.
